In an article appearing in the Atlanta Business Chronicle last week, the TowerGroup report on bank compliance with identity theft rules, set to take effect on November 1st, found that most banks will not be in compliance with the new rules issued last November. The new rules mandated by the US government seek to bolster bank efforts to prevent identity theft protection. According to the article, "Less than one-third of U.S. banks will be fully compliant with the U.S. government’s identity theft prevention rules by the Nov. 1 deadline."
